ETCG1 asks what mastery really earns an automotive technician
EricTheCarGuy's only new upload explores the downside of becoming the shop's most qualified problem solver.

The Curse of the Master Technician
Does knowing more at work always make the job better? EricTheCarGuy's "other" channel has a less comfortable answer in "The Curse of the Master Technician," his only new upload of the week. Eric says he has seen technicians work hard for master certification, only to find that the achievement brings worse treatment rather than the reward they expected.
The video has reached roughly 47,000 views, and the replies give that premise a distinctly shop-floor texture. Viewers describe being handed difficult wiring diagnoses while other technicians get routine maintenance jobs. Others discuss the pressure to accept troublesome work simply because they have the qualifications. These are their own workplace accounts, but the recurring question travels well beyond cars: when you become the person who can solve the problem, do you also become the person who cannot decline it?
The new discussion is comfortably ETCG1's busiest video for daily views. "The Canary in the Coal Mine?" also remains active, returning to technician shortages, labor time and pay. Eric's description says he addressed the same issue years earlier and sees little change in the industry. The older "How Much Time Do You Have?" takes the conversation somewhere more personal, asking what people want to do with the time available to them.
Subscribers were unchanged over the week, and daily viewing is a little below Eric's usual pace. Nearby motoring channels had very different weeks: Mercedes Lounge drew a much larger weekly audience, while realfixesrealfast had a smaller one. ETCG1's particular contribution is less about the car on the lift than the person expected to get it working again.

I wasn't even a master tech and I still had to deal with a lot of that working at Honda.
