Escaping Terminus: FlameFrags, Wemmbu, Parrot and Spoke stage a Minecraft prison break
The Unstable Universe's "deadliest Minecraft prison" had nearly four and a half million views within three days of going up.
Why this story? The whole channel is running at 4,325,865 views a day, 13 times a normal day (328,853).
FlameFrags has broken out of a Minecraft prison, and he did not do it alone. "Escaping Terminus: The Deadliest Minecraft Prison" went up on Tuesday as a four-way production with Wemmbu, Parrot and Spoke, and by Friday it had close to four and a half million views. The channel's whole day came to more than four million views. An ordinary day here is nearer a third of a million.
Terminus belongs to the Unstable Universe, also called the Unstable SMP. The description calls it a staged server the four built together to tell cinematic stories in Minecraft. It is a different kind of video from the ones FlameFrags made his name with. His tags still read like a fighter's résumé ("minecraft combat master", "best minecraft pvper"), and his summer uploads were tournaments, training sessions and a showdown with the game's self-described "strongest" player. Terminus is scripted. The description thanks a list of actors and promises that any staged video from now on will carry a disclaimer saying so.
The prison break comes four weeks after "Searching for a Vault that Doesn't Exist", still the busiest of his recent uploads. Spoke, his co-star here, had a quieter day on his own channel than usual. So did several of the other Minecraft channels closest to FlameFrags in size, which makes this a day that belongs to the prison.
