The belt changed hands. In 2016, Manny Pacquiao returned from a brief retirement and took Jessie Vargas' welterweight title in Las Vegas. Nearly a decade later, that performance is giving boxing clips channel Florid Miston an unusually busy day.
Its September upload, "When Pacquiao Schooled A Cocky World Champion", added roughly 125,000 views in a day after a much quieter start. This is an edited breakdown using fight footage and broadcast commentary, not a new Pacquiao appearance.
The boxing gives it a clear thread: Vargas tries to keep Pacquiao at the end of his jab, but the challenger keeps erasing the space between them. "He closes the distance so fast all the time," Timothy Bradley says on commentary. A straight left puts Vargas down in the second round, the fight's only official knockdown.
Vargas has competitive stretches with his right hand. Pacquiao answers with quick combinations, and his late-round pace is a recurring subject in the comments. Viewers point to how quickly he is still moving in the tenth and how readily he advances rather than retreats. Others focus on the distance Vargas tries to maintain.
Pacquiao is not the channel's only older fight drawing extra attention. Its breakdown of Thomas Hearns' second meeting with Iran Barkley also had a sharp rise, bringing another championship encounter from the archive into Florid Miston's busy day.
