Fowler sets October 24 for his e-bike rail car's return

The project turns two cut-up e-bikes into a vehicle intended for driving, sleeping and an unconventional crossing of Maine.

Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.

Two brand-new e-bikes cut in half is quite a starting point for a Maine crossing. Zachary Fowler's plan is to turn them into a three-wheeled adventure vehicle that can handle roads, railroad tracks and ATV trails, with somewhere to sleep along the way.

The build supplied Fowler's Makery and Mischief with its only new upload: "E-Bike Rail Car Build Part 3 Coming Soon...." Rather than another full installment, it brings a date, October 24. The announcement has drawn roughly 6,000 views, and the comments include viewers joking about having to be patient. Someone also wants to identify Fowler's hoodie, because even a workshop update has a wardrobe department.

While the rail car waits, fishing has the strongest daily momentum. "Striper Fishing For Science In Maine -Chasing the Striper ep 8" pairs Fowler with UMaine student Abby and guide Brian Boyt. Abby samples the striped bass's stomach contents non-invasively to investigate what they eat in Maine, turning a fishing trip into a contribution to fisheries research. It is drawing about twice the daily views of the preceding Plum Island episode, whose itinerary includes kayaking, unexpected problems and a final outing with Merrimack Fishing Charters.

The channel's subscriber count stayed unchanged over the week, though daily views are running above their usual level. Nearby outdoor channels Kamoka Pearl and MeatEater both added subscribers during larger viewing weeks. For Fowler, the active catalog has a particularly fitting split: finding out what fish eat, and building something he can sleep in between adventures.
