"RJ Mitte dies aged 34" is a one-minute Short from Good Morning Britain, ITV's breakfast program, and it delivers the news in the plainest words available. It opens on Breaking Bad, with Mitte as Walter White Jr. beside Bryan Cranston, then recounts how the actor brought his own experience of cerebral palsy to the role. Cranston, the narrator says, is in deep despair. Representatives confirmed that Mitte died in Texas, remembering him as an actor, a philanthropist and an advocate.

The report gives Mitte room to speak for himself. In an interview clip about disabled representation on screen, he says: "People want to see themselves on television and when you have a disability that number is so small." The segment ends with his later work, including the film Talking to Strangers and a recent podcast appearance.

Close to 150,000 people watched it within its first day, far beyond the program's usual start for a Short. The comment section moved faster still. More than 170 comments arrived before the first day was out, while a GMB Short usually draws about nine.

Many of those comments go back to the show. Viewers remember Walt Jr. at the family breakfast table, and the scene in which Walt stands up for his son against bullies in a clothing store.
