Selling more than twenty cars sounds like a productive month. Tyler Hoover says his used-car dealership came away with just $1,800 after expenses and losses, which gives his latest auction trip a rather different atmosphere.
His only upload this week opens with the sale of his Lotus Esprit V8. From there, the Hoovies Garage update becomes a detailed tour of the gap between buying a cheap car and having a cheap car worth selling. A Buick Regal needed costly repairs and a customer refund before returning to auction. A newer Kia Stinger is too expensive for the lot's brief. Even finding inventory means sorting through knocking engines, dead batteries and stuck seats.
The most memorable audition belongs to a Silverado whose instrument cluster goes haywire during testing. "I don't know if I need a mechanic for this one or a priest," Hoover says. Later, mechanic Daniel joins him for another test drive and a walk through the dealership's harder-to-shift stock. The video includes a sponsored segment.
Viewers are discussing refunds, auction judgment and whether the Buick might have been better kept as a shop car. Several return to that mechanic-or-priest line, a compact expression of the channel's particular buying philosophy.
The upload has reached roughly 470,000 views and is the channel's busiest video right now. The broken Rolls-Royce Ghost road trip remains active behind it, followed by the Ferrari purchase we covered earlier.
Subscribers held steady over the week. Daily views are currently well below their usual level, while nearby motoring channels have had mixed fortunes: Gas Monkey Garage and LegitStreetCars are running above their usual daily audiences. For Hoover, the week's most substantial addition is this unusually granular look at what happens after the auction hammer falls.
