Your Bladdered You Girl | Paul Smith LIVE at Hot Water Comedy Club

The man beside her hasn't done anything, but Paul Smith is already rehearsing his defense. As a woman leans against a stranger in the front row, the comedian imagines him clinging to his own partner and explaining that none of this is his idea.

That little act-out finishes a crowd-work exchange that begins with something much simpler: another Paul introducing himself. His drawn-out delivery catches Smith's ear, and the answer to the next question, Bolton, gives the comedian more to work with. Then Smith notices the woman beside him and asks whether she's okay.

Smith calls her "bladdered," British slang for drunk, and doubts she'll make it through the show. But the clip's final turn shifts attention to her neighbor, whom Smith casts as an innocent man anticipating an awkward conversation later.

Posted on Hot Water Comedy Club, the Short reached roughly 38,000 views in its first 11 hours, well ahead of the club's usual Shorts start. One commenter has a different live encounter on their mind: their first Paul Smith show, in Manchester on Thursday.
