A kid asks for the keys, and Hydra's car-culture Shorts keep rolling
Fifteen uploads went up, from a C6 Corvette leaving a Hellcat behind to fifty years of the BMW 3 Series in one clip.
Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.
Bro Just Wanted to Drive the Car 😂💀 #carguy #cars
What does a car-culture channel post when it posts fifteen times in seven days? On Hydra, a bit of everything: memes, trivia and clips credited to the people who filmed them, each with a description that reads like a short lesson.
The newest hit is the simplest. In "Bro Just Wanted to Drive the Car 😂💀," a kid spots a modified car, walks straight up to its owner and starts negotiating as if he is about to leave with the keys. The description asks viewers whether they would at least have let him sit behind the wheel.
The week's most watched upload went the other way. In "If mess around and find out was a video," a C6 Corvette pulls away from a Dodge, and the caption gets nerdy about it: the C6 is the front-engine generation that came before the mid-engine C8, and it is much lighter than a Hellcat. Viewers mostly talk about the sound, which one compares to a steam train. Several also ask what anyone actually found out, and a few insist nobody was racing at all.
Elsewhere, the channel lined up five machines near 200 mph, from NASCAR to Japan's SCMAGLEV train, and it corrected its own clip in the description: Bloodhound LSR never reached 1,000 mph. Another Short squeezed eight generations of the BMW 3 Series, from the 1975 E21 to the new G50, into one question about which is best.
Views ran slower than usual, at a little over two million for the week, and the subscriber count held steady. Even so, among the motoring channels nearest its size, only The Electric Viking gathered more views. Calvin's Car Diary and salvage rebuilds uk are having lively weeks, while Burlacher has been quiet.

No one is finding anything out. I see absolutely no one racing, but I do see a really fast Corvette showing off.
