Coca-Cola gets a homemade spot from Jake Ceja
The channel's only new upload passes a million views, with its vocal soundtrack becoming a talking point.
Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.
I filmed a Coca Cola commercial at home
Pepsi already had a turn. Now Jake Ceja's at-home commercial series has made room for another familiar soda label, with "I filmed a Coca Cola commercial at home" drawing just over a million views since its October 13 release.
It's a homemade advertising-style video, and the comments give the sound its own spotlight. Viewers single out the voice accompanying the spot, while several draw comparisons with the Dr Pepper girl. Others imagine a brand hiring Jake or joke about an ad they wouldn't skip. The filmmaking has company in the conversation: people are listening, too.
The new upload isn't doing all the work. "I shot a cookie commercial at home" currently draws the most daily views among Jake's active videos, followed by "I Shot a Pepsi Commercial at Home". Both are attracting roughly twice the daily viewing of the Coca-Cola upload, giving this small run of homemade commercials momentum beyond its newest installment.
Across the channel, the week brought roughly 17 million views and modest subscriber growth. Daily viewing is a little above its usual level. Among nearby sketch channels, Nick Wilkins had a much larger week, while Dimucc's weekly viewing was closer to Jake's.
For Jake, the distinctive thread is the expanding commercial portfolio: chocolate in June, then cookies and two soda brands in October.
