A Nobel Trump says he doesn't care about, and a medal for Musk, on Kimmel

Jimmy Kimmel also gets to a vegan mix-up, a reported credit card bill and Guillermo's next round on Dancing with the Stars.

Why this story? The video opened at a pace of 2,795,259 views a day, 15 times a normal first day on this channel (187,284).

Trump Won’t Win the Nobel Peace Prize, Keeps Talking About Iran Bombing LA & More Broken PromisesTrump Won’t Win the Nobel Peace Prize, Keeps Talking About Iran Bombing LA & More Broken Promises

"Everyone says that I should get the Nobel Peace Prize," Donald Trump says in one clip of Jimmy Kimmel's montage. Less than half a minute later, in another: "I don't care about the Nobel Prize." With the peace prize announcement close, Kimmel lets the two sit side by side. Then he turns to a medal Trump did hand out: the National Medal of Science, awarded to Elon Musk. Kimmel brings up the past feuds between the two men and offers a mock compliment: "It's hard for him to give medals to other people. He's really showing growth."

Trump's musing that Iran could hit Los Angeles and San Diego comes back for a third straight monologue, this time through a Truth Social post that also covers gas prices. Someone has finally told Trump he mispronounces "vegan," and his answer is "How the hell would I know? I like steak." Kimmel also checks old promises, including gas below two dollars, and reads a Wall Street Journal report that Kimberly Guilfoyle pressed a donor to cover her American Express bill.

The last stretch is lighter. Guillermo is through to the next round on Dancing with the Stars, the Dodgers celebrate a playoff series win before heading to Milwaukee to play the Brewers, and "This Week in Unnecessary Censorship" bleeps harmless words until the news clips sound indecent.

The monologue reached nearly 2.8 million views in its first day. Comments arrived almost ten times faster than on a usual first day. Much of the talk is about what a peace prize is meant to reward, and a fair share is about Guillermo's dancing. It fits a pattern from the rest of the week. Kimmel's nightly monologues are carrying the channel, while even Michael Douglas, with his memoir stories, drew a fraction of the audience.
