Part 201 of 'Art teachers be like...' and the architect question
Joseph Arning's long-running sketch series passed 200 entries, and the comments turned into a defense of architecture and a swap of real art-class memories.
Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.
Art teachers be like... Part 201 #artteacher #artschool #artstudent #art #artist
Among the vlog and daily-life channels nearest his size, Joseph Arning had the third-biggest week for views, behind only Dylan Novak and Grace May, who both work at a scale of millions a day. Above them sits a long shelf: more than 287 million views in total, most of them built on one recurring joke.
That joke is the art teacher. "Art teachers be like..." reached Part 201 on Sunday, then Part 202 and Part 203 followed within three days, with a "pov: drawing with a mean artist" Short opening the week. Two hundred episodes in, the formula still lands: Part 201 passed a quarter of a million views in five days and is still the busiest thing on the channel.
The comments explain why. A suggestion in the sketch that a student switch to something like architecture or politics set off a small uprising, with would-be architects asking if their dream job had just been roasted, and others pointing out that architecture is hardly the easy option. Plenty of viewers simply told their own stories instead: the teacher who loved their drawings but hated that they never colored anything in, the one who made a class copy a picture exactly, the designer in their thirties half wishing they had become a lawyer.
The channel ran ahead of its usual daily pace, and about a thousand new subscribers came along. The newest entry, Part 203, is already moving almost as fast as Part 201 does now.

Dude. Now that I’m a designer and I’m 34, I sometimes wish I listened to my dad and became a lawyer and didnt have to work 10 times harder than other people to land a job 😂
@0urher0nik0See it on YouTubeMy art teacher always loved what I drew but she HATED that I didn't color stuff in. I 1. Don't like coloring much and 2. 9/10 my art was meant to be monotone and colorless
Edit: just because I didn't color stuff in doesn't mean I didn't explore different types of art and learn about them. Y'all commenting kinda not thinking about the fact that I can learn other art without coloring stuff. Coloring isn't ALL art is.@ShellBell-wz6czSee it on YouTube😂 let me find out that my dream profession is a roast 🤣
@bennedamosley7400See it on YouTubeimagine claiming architecture is "less interesting" while also implying that it's easier when it's three dimensional art but with engineering involved too
@AppImageSee it on YouTubeMy teacher once said it to me I should be a restorator because I lack imagination 😂
