Harmeet Dhillon's Civil Rights hires, in Katie Phang's three-minute cut

The former MSNBC anchor turned her Wednesday argument about lawyers leaving the Justice Department into a Short, and its comments filled faster than on any usual first day.

Why this story? The video opened at a pace of 137,722 views a day, 6.7 times a normal first day on this channel (20,636).

Trump DOJ Lawyers FLEE As Department IMPLODES!!Trump DOJ Lawyers FLEE As Department IMPLODES!!

Harmeet Dhillon runs the Justice Department's Civil Rights Division, and who she has been hiring is the subject of Katie Phang's newest Short, "Trump DOJ Lawyers FLEE As Department IMPLODES!!"

Dhillon, a California trial lawyer and longtime Republican Party figure, was confirmed to lead the division in 2025. Phang's description says the department keeps losing qualified lawyers and staff while Dhillon brings in people it calls partisan, and says they were fired, rejected or pushed out of earlier jobs. The Short is the compact version of a longer video Phang posted on Wednesday, in which she lays out why she thinks those hires put the whole country at risk, whatever anyone's politics. That longer one has passed 270,000 views.

The short cut drew more than 100,000 views in its first 14 hours, several times what a Phang Short usually manages in a full day. Its comment section is already more than twice as busy as a usual first day. Much of the talk is about professional consequences: state bar associations, law licenses and whether lawyers can be held to account for following orders. Several viewers argue over the difference between an executive order and a law passed by Congress.

It was not her only busy upload on Thursday. A new update on her own lawsuit over the Epstein files, as we reported here, centers on FBI handwritten notes she says have not all been handed over, and it drew an even bigger crowd than the Short.
