Mat Armstrong's yacht needs more than an engine fix

Specialists assess whether his restoration project is safe to sail back to the UK.

Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.

The engine problem was only the beginning. In "SPECIALIST'S INSPECT MY $1.7M BROKEN YACHT", Mat Armstrong brings in specialists to check whether his first luxury yacht can safely make the journey back to the UK, where he wants to tackle its restoration. His description says the fault they found immediately is turning out to be the least of their worries.

There were no new uploads this week, but that inspection has reached nearly 16 million views and is the channel's busiest video by daily views. The original purchase video remains close behind in daily activity. That introduced a non-running yacht built in 1991, with marina costs adding urgency to getting its engine sorted and moving it elsewhere.

It's quite a change of scale for someone whose channel description cheerfully allows for taking an angle grinder to a car. The garage hasn't disappeared, though: "I BOUGHT A WRECKED MCLAREN & REBUILT IT IN 9 DAYS" remains another active draw, following a damaged 600LT rebuild with welding and carbon-fiber expertise brought in.

The upload break still brought about 40,000 additional subscribers. Viewing today is much slower than Armstrong's usual daily pace, despite a substantial weekly total. Around the motoring channels, carwow had a busy week for views, while ChrisFix saw a larger subscriber increase. Armstrong's own week belongs to the boat, with the practical question no longer just how to fix it, but whether it can sail home.
