A removable camper, a working Land Rover, and Maximus Ironthumper
Part 3 adds a rear door, front hatch and mounting rails without retiring the truck from everyday work.
Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.
DIY Demountable Truck Camper on a Land Rover Part 3
Maximus Ironthumper is closing up the ends of his homemade camper, but the point is to keep the Land Rover useful when the camping trip is over. The pod is designed to come off, leaving the truck free to return to its daily duties.
His sole new upload, "DIY Demountable Truck Camper on a Land Rover Part 3," moves from the floor to the rear door and front hatch, then tackles side skirts and mounting rails. It reached about 26,000 views in its first day and a half. The vehicle underneath is Project Kermit, a rebuilt 1978 Series 3 long-wheelbase Land Rover with a 200tdi engine.
The comments get pleasingly specific. One viewer has added a snail hinge to their list of unexpectedly necessary things; another thinks Land Rover's own rear flap could use one. Several discuss the transformation of old materials into the camper, with a joke about stored-away scrap finally revealing what it was meant to become. The back window and door also get particular attention.
Part 3 is comfortably the channel's most active video right now. Part 2, with its insulation, windows and jack legs, continues to draw smaller daily audiences, as does the Salisbury Plain motorcycle trip: gentle off-roading, camping and meals from a French military ration pack.
Subscribers were unchanged over the week, and today's channel-wide viewing is below its usual daily level. Among similarly sized motoring channels, Venture Tread and carsales had much larger viewing weeks. Here, the useful catch-up is the camper's progression: the previous installment gave it legs; this one gives it ends that close.

I've added snail hinge to the list of things I didn't know I needed until I saw it. Thanks !
@Bill_BartlettSee it on YouTubeThis is why a man never throws anything away. You just put it in the hedge of plenty. Then many years go by and it mysteriously transforms itself into the ideal material to build a de-mountable truck camper.
@PenryMMJSee it on YouTubeGreat progress - looking very good! That back window/door is a real triumph.

I cannot get over how you take the most unappealing pieces of what most people would consider to be scrap and turn them into this camper pod, absolutely hooked watching this build.
