Tom Merritt offers a useful warning amid all the Hollywood adaptation talk: "An option does not mean they are going to make it." On The Modern Rogue's most-watched new upload, he and Brian Brushwood explore the distance between acquiring a story and actually getting it onto a screen.
"We Watched the Last Episode of 1978's BSG, and... - Cordkillers #622" drew roughly 13,000 views. Its description marks the pair's arrival at "The Hand of God," the original Battlestar Galactica finale, but the conversation ranges well beyond the Colonial fleet. Xbox's screen ambitions and a reported Cyberpunk 2077 adaptation prompt Brushwood to compare game movies' changing reputation with the earlier evolution of superhero adaptations. Later, his recommendation of For All Mankind keeps the science-fiction thread running.
The week's four uploads also put Brushwood's other skills to work. "Workshop Wednesday w/ Co-Host Brian Brushwood (plus magic!)" pairs a magic show with a lesson about scammers' social engineering techniques, followed by a chance to apply the lesson. Great Night adds entertainment chatter, while "Weird Things Podcast #1002 - We Tell You The Future" brings Brushwood together with Andrew Mayne and Justin Robert Young.
The channel added about 218,000 views over the week, with subscribers unchanged. Its current daily viewing is around half its usual pace. Nearby science-and-experiment channels have had different rhythms: Scott Manley's daily audience is more than twice his usual level, while Domain of Science is close to its normal pace.
Within The Modern Rogue's own lineup, Weird Things currently has the most daily momentum, ahead of both the workshop and Cordkillers. The biggest new-upload audience went to the television conversation; the freshest continuing activity belongs to the future-telling trio.
