ARCHERY ELK RUT FEST (Craziest Elk Action I’ve Ever Seen)

Mullet Man, the Waco-based hunter and angler who started filming his trips to keep the memories, went after elk with a bow this week. "ARCHERY ELK RUT FEST (Craziest Elk Action I've Ever Seen)" was his only upload, and it opened with close to 25,000 views on its first day.

The rut is the elk's autumn mating season, when bulls bugle and come in close, which is exactly when bowhunters want to be in the timber. Judging by the comments, the hunt ends with a big bull down, and the shot itself has become the talking point. Some viewers call it a lucky hit that dropped the animal on the spot; others pick apart where the arrow landed. Several ask how he draws an elk tag every year, a few New Mexico hunters wave hello, and one viewer promises to keep the exact location a secret.

The elk film is doing nearly all the work on the channel right now. His September Colorado trip, "Bears And Bulls| A Colorado Archery Hunt," and a spring axis deer hunt in Texas trail far behind it.

Among the outdoors channels nearest his size, Big Water Guy is having the big week, with 402_Outdoors also well above its usual pace. Mullet Man's week was steadier: views a little above his normal day, and a subscriber count that held at about 382,000.
