Surviving a giant werewolf is only half the job. Preston still has to persuade a Minecraft villager that the photograph he risked his life to take is worth believing.
That running problem drives "I Found FOOTPRINTS of FAMOUS Minecraft MONSTERS…," his September adventure, which has added roughly half a million views in a day, nearly eight times its usual daily pace. His older "I Found the HOUSE HEAD in Minecraft…" is also drawing an unusually large daily audience.
The footprint hunt is a staged Minecraft monster story, not a discovery of creatures in the standard game. Preston explicitly describes the scary myths as fiction, credits JPPlays as inspiration, and the video includes an advertising segment.
Each creature brings a different photography problem. The Sea Hand Monster requires a trip to deep-ocean shipwrecks. A transparent Blood Phantom calls for help from Villager Danny and an unlikely ingredient: milk. Long-Legged Steve moves so quickly that Preston builds camera traps, using redstone triggers and honey to slow his subject down.
"I almost died for this photo, man!" Preston says after the werewolf encounter. The villagers remain a demanding audience, with one insisting on evidence of every monster before accepting his story.
Viewers are inspecting that evidence, too. Some point out an apparent contradiction in the Phantom's photographs, while another questions why Preston's underwater air bubbles aren't dropping. Danny's willingness to stand up for him gets attention as well. In a story full of enormous creatures, the helpful villager supplies a smaller, warmer moment.
