License plates after dark put Project Farm's dash cams to work
Todd's only new upload compares budget and pricier cameras on the details drivers need to read.
Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.
This Budget Dash Cam Destroyed the $300+ Brands!
A camera can record the road without capturing the detail that matters. Todd's new Project Farm comparison puts that distinction to work, testing whether dash cams can make license plates, distance markers and road signs readable while the car is moving.
The lineup includes VIOFO, Vantrue, Garmin, THINKWARE and others. Rather than stopping at a pleasant-looking daytime picture, the tests check sign clarity at highway speed and plate readability on nighttime highway drives. The title, "This Budget Dash Cam Destroyed the $300+ Brands!", promises an upset for expensive hardware; the description lays out the practical questions behind it.
That single upload has drawn roughly 1.2 million views and is the channel's busiest video right now. In the comments, the conversation extends beyond image quality: viewers ask for extreme-temperature testing, discuss cameras that have lasted for years and remind one another to check that the camera and memory card are actually recording. One small pleasure for regulars is Todd's familiar testing catchphrase, complete with the chuckle a commenter singles out.
The automotive theme continues further down the shelf. His Walmart and O'Reilly battery comparison remains the next strongest daily draw, followed by the engine-air-filter test, which examines the trade-off between airflow and dust capture.
Across Project Farm, daily views are about a third above their usual level, while the subscriber total was unchanged over the week. Nearby in the DIY and home group, Home RenoVision DIY also has an above-usual daily audience, while Half-Asleep Chris is close to its normal pace. For Todd, the week's clearest point of interest is a distinctly useful one: what a dash cam can actually read after dark.

I've been using dashcams for over 20 years. The most important thing is to check them regularly.(the dashcam itself, as well as the MicroSD card) They won't do anybody any good it they are not actually recording.
@S_PaoliSee it on YouTubeFor those of us who live where summers are beyond brutal, it would really help to have some extreme temperature testing.

You have become the first source of information when I go to buy something. I don’t bother googling it I just go to your page or I wait until you test products. Thank you for doing what you do.

@KoryBrooksSee it on YouTubeI purchased an older 1080p VIOFO dash cam around a decade ago and it's still going strong. They really do make good quality dash cams.
