Real Civil Engineer returns to the haystack for part two

Find The Needle supplies a million-view sequel amid Mars excavation, train scrapping and beaver construction.

Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.

Is this the most efficient way to find a needle in a haystack? Is this the most efficient way to find a needle in a haystack?

Finding a needle apparently wasn't enough to settle the matter. Real Civil Engineer returned to Find The Needle for a second installment, and "Is this the most efficient way to find a needle in a haystack?" drew roughly 1.3 million views, the largest audience among the week's new uploads.

The game's premise is literal: a giant pile of hay, with needles to find. The audience's discussion is rather more industrial. Viewers question whether unchecked hay is going into generators, suggest putting a needle scanner on the assembly line and compare arms with rakes. Efficiency, it seems, is a topic on which everyone has a design review to offer. Several commenters also describe losing hours to trying the game themselves.

There were eight uploads altogether, with plenty of alternatives to agricultural sorting. Alien Archeologist took the digging to Mars, Train Graveyard Simulator turned abandoned trains into scrap, and Cities: Skylines II supplied a whole-world recreation. A separate Order Of The Sinking Star puzzle-game video was sponsored by Arc Games and used in-development footage.

The busiest upload right now is another construction project: "Engineering a SKYSCRAPER CITY was my best idea yet!", part of Timberborners Season 16's beaver-tower build. Train scrapping follows it, while the original Find The Needle outing continues attracting more daily views than its sequel.

Across the channel, daily viewing is modestly above its usual level, while subscribers held steady. OperatorDrewski is also drawing a larger-than-usual daily audience in the simulation and strategy neighborhood; lilsimsie's viewing is close to its customary pace. For RCE, the haystack has become more than a one-off curiosity: the original "This game nearly broke me..." is approaching three million views.

  • I got this game last night and I'm disturbed at how addictive it is.

I started a save with the ridiculous 110 million pieces pile of hay and I'm currently 30 million pieces done with it. Only found 2 needles haha

  • My dad used to say: "Easiest way to find a needle in a haystack? Burn the haystack."
