RemLife's Japan diary brought in nearly a million views across the channel this week, a substantial audience among similarly sized vlog channels. Operation Niki had a much bigger week, while Nathaly Cuevas was adding subscribers; RemLife's subscriber count stayed level, with daily views currently below their usual pace.
The travel itinerary, though, was anything but stationary. Two new uploads moved from "CRAZY NIGHT OUT IN TOKYO + Partying In Japan!!" to "OUR TRIP TOOK A BAD TURN... Surprise Friends In Tokyo!!" The latter has edged past the night-out vlog to reach about 202,000 views and is the channel's busiest video right now. The earlier "BFF TOKYO TRIP BEGINS!! Best Shopping, Food & Surprises!!" also remains an active draw.
In the newest installment, Remi starts in rainy Shimokitazawa, Cal's favorite thrifting neighborhood, with Bretman Rock on his last day. A vintage-store stop brings an unexpected meeting with Lauren and Jeremy, whose separate Japan itinerary happens to intersect with hers. Remi's delight is straightforward: "I'm so happy that I got to see Lauren in Japan."
There is ramen at Ichiran, eaten in individual cubicles, followed by a bullet-train journey toward Kyoto with a Nagoya shopping detour. Viewers keep mentioning Cal and Bretman peeking over during the ramen meal, along with Cal's voice-over and Remi's familiar "so good" refrain. The little travel habits are getting as much conversation as the destinations.
Convenience-store snacks make the journey too, including a pancake fried chicken sandwich from FamilyMart. By the Kyoto arrival, Remi is touring an upgraded suite and marking a personal first: she has never visited the city before.
