Anthony Scaramucci's first poutine, served between two Hegseth episodes

Katty Kay and the Mooch spent most of their six uploads on the Pentagon and the midterms, then let a Canadian plate of fries, gravy and cheese curds have its own Short.

Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.

Pete Hegseth ran through this week on The Rest Is Politics US like a recurring guest who never showed up. The week opened with "Pete Hegseth Just Gave The Weirdest Speech Ever...", in which Katty Kay and Anthony Scaramucci ask whether the defense secretary's days at the Pentagon are numbered and what his purge of senior officers will leave behind. It went on to become the most watched upload of the seven days. A follow-up Short counted the firings, and the newest clip, "Spiritual war, going great. Physical war, not so great.", went back to the same speech.

Between those came a lighter moment: "Anthony Scaramucci tries poutine for the first time..." The former White House communications director, who held that job for barely a week and a half in 2017, met Quebec's famous dish, and the Short passed 100,000 views within about a day and a half.

The full episode "Trump Has Lost MAGA: What Next?", which we covered here when it was new, is the one doing the most work right now. Even so, the channel as a whole is running at well under half its usual daily pace, and subscribers held at 411,000.

Around it, the political talk shows are mixed. The Nerve with Maureen Callahan is running above its normal pace, and John Kiriakou added more subscribers than anyone in the group. Several others, Talking Feds and Dave Jorgenson among them, are quieter than usual.
