Guitar nails get their own lesson from Sam Griffin

Playing the guitar is one challenge; figuring out the nails can feel like a separate hobby. That is the conversation beneath Sam Griffin's only upload of the week, "Your guitar nails suck. Here's how to fix them.", which has reached about 11,000 views.

Griffin describes himself as a classical guitarist teaching technique and arranging, with much of his arrangement work devoted to video game music. This lesson turns attention from the tune to the fingers making it. Viewers discuss short, ramped nail shapes, glass files and the awkwardness of keeping nails beyond their fingertips. One reports trying the method and finding it works; another asks the wonderfully compact follow-up: what about the thumb?

The nail lesson also has the strongest daily momentum among his featured videos, ahead of "The \"circle method\" for gaining insane guitar speed" and the older "Can I learn Classical Dragon in an hour?". Together, they offer three distinct practice-room questions: how to shape the nails, how to build speed and how much a player can learn against the clock.

Across the library, Griffin added roughly 52,000 views while subscribers stayed unchanged. His current daily viewing pace is below its usual level. In the nearby music-lesson group, Andrew Piano had a much bigger viewing and subscriber-growth week, while Christopher Bill's weekly views were close to Griffin's. For Sam, the new conversation is unusually hands-on: even a lesson about nails has viewers talking about string contact and the sound they want to make.

  • I've tried 80 million techniques for filing my nails and I always go back to the glass file and just doing it by eye

  • This is absolutely what I needed *(now if only I liked having nails that extend anywhere beyond the very tips of my fingers.)*
  • My nails are mostly like yours, short and ramped. However I do not have my nails as wide as you do. when they are that wide it seems at times to hang up a bit on the string.
  • Am the only one that simply cant use fingernails (or a pick, for that matter)? 30 years of playing and they still just dont work lol
