"Easy A Chord Jam Lick to Try" is about as compact as a guitar lesson gets. Steve Stine takes the A chord and shows how a small shape on the fifth and seventh frets turns it into a quick run of notes across the strings, the kind of fill you can drop between strums.

It went far past what his Shorts usually do. It drew close to 47,000 views in its first day, around thirty times a normal start. That came even as the channel as a whole ran below its usual pace. Two days earlier, his short on finding D on the sixth string had a strong start of its own, as we reported here. The lesson posted next to this one, on three-note picking patterns, has barely begun.

The comments are where it gets interesting. Stine's Shorts rarely draw more than one reply in a day, and this one drew a couple of dozen, many of them homework. Several viewers point out that the box is the A minor pentatonic, the blues-rock workhorse, and one asks why D and G belong in a lick over an A chord at all. Others want the same trick for D and G, one checks the tuning, and one simply hears "Jack and Diane" in it.

That suits a teacher who, by his own channel's account, once taught modern guitar at North Dakota State University.
