Shawn Tairyu Head's latest Shoden titles make a small landscape of their own: a lantern, Mount Fuji and rough waves. Each subject appears in a pair of uploads, giving Tairyu Shakuhachi viewers six new entries to explore.
The biggest new audience gathered around "Shoden: Tomoshibi #shakuhachi #flute #dothingsyoudontwanttodo", which is approaching a thousand views. Its companion, "Shoden: Tomoshibi/ The Lantern", supplies the English translation. The hashtag-titled upload credits Eli German with audio, video and editing, and names Covenant Presbyterian Church in Nashville as the recording location. That Tennessee setting is a pleasing detail for a channel dedicated to bringing the Japanese bamboo flute to new audiences.
Attention has since shifted toward Araumi. "Shoden: Araumi #shakuhachi #flute #japanesemusic #music #robuki" is drawing the most daily views of the channel's active videos, followed by "Shoden: Araumi/ Rough Waves". Both arrived near the end of this publishing week, while the Fuji no Yama pair offers a mountain-themed counterpart.
The broader week was measured rather than expansive: subscribers stayed unchanged, and daily views are slightly below their usual level. Nearby in subscriber size, Online Academy of Irish Music is having a busier-than-usual day. Tairyu's own week added about 12,500 views, with the newest rough-wave pieces now doing most of the daily work.
