Drew Lynch's mother knows to ask when she returns his call. He tells her no, while standing in front of a comedy-club audience with his phone on speaker.

The reason for the call is sitting in the front row: a man wearing a shirt with "YOUR MOM" crossed off a to-do list. Rather than just answer the shirt with a joke, Lynch decides to consult the person concerned.

First, he has to get through her voicemail. The greeting runs long enough to become its own part of the routine, and he later tells her she needs to fix it. When he finally explains the shirt, his mother has a question of her own: "Is he good-looking?" She then asks for a photo. So much for getting parental backup.

Viewers are discussing the lengthy voicemail greeting and his mother's immediate suspicion that she's part of the show.
