A Crossflow, not a Coyote, for The Skid Factory's Fairlane
Episode three continues Westy's low-budget plan to get an Arizona-imported Ford cruising in Australia.
Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.
CROSSFLOW Powered COMPACT ON A BUDGET! (EP3)
The Mustang V8 plan stalled; an old Australian Falcon engine gave the project a different direction. The Skid Factory's only new upload, “CROSSFLOW Powered COMPACT ON A BUDGET! (EP3),” continues the rescue of a 1962 Ford Fairlane originally imported from Arizona, with a left-hand-drive cruiser as the goal rather than an elaborate engine swap.
Westy's suggestion was a Ford 250 Crossflow, under the wonderfully literal brief of 250 cubic inches for $250. The description puts spending so far at $200. The episode has reached roughly 58,000 views, and viewers are talking about repairing parts instead of ordering replacements, including rebuilding the starter. Another thread picks up the deadline discussion, making the case for finishing a job properly rather than rushing toward a date.
The new episode supplies most of the channel's current daily viewing, with episode two and “I Ditched the Coyote For a 40 Year Old CROSSFLOW?” also drawing views. Subscribers were unchanged over the week, while today's viewing pace is less than half its usual level. Nearby motoring channels Bandita Drive and SocialOrbit had much larger weekly view gains, but this shed's conversation remains pleasingly specific: what counts toward the budget, and how much can be fixed with more hours than dollars.

I'm loving this build. Relatable to most people. No massive budget and endless parts, just the boys wrenching, with more hours than dollars.
@steverangi8970See it on YouTubeLove the deadline chat at about 14:25. I’m totally up for a deadline free automotive channel! They’re never all that real and I much prefer to see a job done right, and a car enjoyed when it’s good and ready :)

Tools don't count towards the budget, and you are so lucky to have met Westy at the right time.

@mikeclark5135See it on YouTubeI do have a soft spot for the mighty crossflow. Great work boys.
@LV-FOURTWENTYSIXSee it on YouTubeThis has been a great relatable "get it going" project. It's cool to see all the parts being pulled apart and fixed instead of everything being replaced with a brand new $500+ item
It might be worth checking the current draw on the starter solenoid - sometimes these can draw lots of amps and you've only got a small wire going to it@timsminigarageSee it on YouTubeBack to the OG skid factory days. ❤️
@DanWallis86See it on YouTubeLoving this build! Relatable for lovers of real steel and carbies
