Never Throw Away Old Tires! Try This Sweet Potato Growing Method

What does a gardening channel grow when it plants nothing new? For TN Gardening, the answer is sweet potatoes in old tires.

No videos went up over the seven days, and the channel still drew about two and a half million views, well above its usual daily pace. Among outdoors and homesteading channels of a similar size, only Fahim skills added more. Dave Mercer had a strong, steady week of his own, while Dude Perfect Outdoors ran quieter than usual.

The video doing the most work is "Never Throw Away Old Tires! Try This Sweet Potato Growing Method," posted in August and now past a million views. The idea fits the channel neatly: the tags point to container and small-space growing, with the tire standing in for a raised bed.

Close behind is a summer guide to daikon, "3 Growing Methods for a Bigger White Radish Harvest from Seed," nearly three months old and still drawing a crowd almost as large each day. The newest of the three is "Who Knew Growing Chayote at Home Could Be This Easy?", which, judging by its tags, sprouts the squash-like fruit in sand.

Autumn is when many gardeners dig sweet potatoes and sow radishes. Perhaps that is why two of these videos are finding new viewers now.

Subscribers rose by around 2,000, a gentle step for a channel at 516,000.
