The Vengeance of Eöl | Of the Tale of Gondolin - Part 4 of 20
Where to pick up Tolkien Untangled while Rainbow Dave takes a week off from uploading? The Gondolin series is the natural starting point: "The Vengeance of Eöl | Of the Tale of Gondolin - Part 4 of 20" is currently drawing the most daily views of any video on the channel.
Its preceding installment, "The Dark Elf & The White Lady | Of the Tale of Gondolin - Part 3 of 20," is also among the channel's busiest videos. Eöl and Aredhel's story belongs to the tangled family history behind Gondolin, the hidden Elven city of The Silmarillion. It is precisely the kind of material Dave's accessible approach is built for: Middle-earth well beyond Bilbo's front door.
There is a different route into Tolkien's mysteries, too. "The Why of Tom Bombadil? | What's his Purpose in The Lord of the Rings?" continues to draw views months after publication. Rather than asking only who the famously elusive character is, its title asks what he contributes to the book.
The channel added roughly 33,000 views over the week, with its subscriber count unchanged. Daily viewing is now about a fifth of its usual level. Among the nearby books-and-reading channels, Tolkien Untangled had the smallest weekly view gain; fellow Middle-earth channel Men of the West had a somewhat busier week. For Dave's viewers, the active shelf offers both a serialized journey through Gondolin and a standalone Bombadil question, without a new upload to catch up on.
