Required reading becomes Viva La Dirt League's next quest obstacle

Fifteen new uploads span reluctant adventurers, retail absurdity and Jake's GTA VI emergency plan.

Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.

Reading in games SUCKSReading in games SUCKS

The quest requires reading. For the adventurers in Viva La Dirt League's "Reading in games SUCKS," that is apparently asking too much. The sketch about players without time for written instructions is the channel's busiest upload by daily views right now, giving a packed comedy week a very recognizable gaming frustration to finish on.

The week's most-watched new release, though, was "How to dodge customers," which reached about 1.7 million views. Its gaming grandmother remains the conversation starter: viewers discuss her orc-warrior credentials, while one recalls a grandmother who turned a spare bedroom into a console-filled game room. The retail premise has become an occasion for people to remember the gamers their elders were, or are.

Elsewhere, "Don't panic, be prepared." had a bigger opening day than the customer-dodging sketch and continues to draw slightly more daily views. "Being a healer is so easy lmao" adds another gaming-role joke, while "When your boss asks you to risk your life for a $5 charger" takes workplace expectations to an absurd extreme. Jake's emergency plan for Arcticstorm Studios in "GTA VI changes everything!" rounds out the mix of imaginary workplaces and all-too-familiar player habits.

Subscribers increased modestly over the week, although daily viewing is currently well below the channel's usual pace. Nearby in sketch comedy, Buttered Side Down is having a busier-than-usual day, while The Try Guys is close to its normal rhythm. For Viva, the freshest source of momentum is that adventurer's objection to doing the homework.

  • My grandmother was born in the 1930's and was a gamer till the end. After all her kids moved out, she turned one of the bedrooms into a "game room" with a tv, an Atari, an NES, and eventually an SNES.

  • This is real. People don't realize how many old people are serious gamers these days
