Breadboards and a working Metal Gear Codec on 3DSage
An upload break leaves Sage's homemade computer and communication projects available for a catch-up.
Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.
Let's Build a Simple Breadboard Computer
A 555 timer, colorful LEDs and a collection of mini breadboards make up the parts list for "Let's Build a Simple Breadboard Computer," 3DSage's most active video right now. Sage calls this build special to him, and its description gives anyone curious about making their own a detailed inventory, right down to switches and resistors.
No new uploads arrived this week, but that computer project, posted more than a year ago, has passed 100,000 views. It is drawing substantially more daily viewing than the other active builds, "I Made My Own Walkie Talkie" and "DIY MGS Codec that actually works." The latter is a fan-made electronics project inspired by Metal Gear Solid's Codec, the communication system that connects Snake with his support team. Here, a familiar game interface becomes something to make rather than just use on-screen.
The channel added about 12,000 views across the week, while its subscriber count stayed unchanged. Daily viewing is a little below its usual level. Among similarly sized DIY channels, WayUp Media and Wyrmwood Vlogs had much larger viewing weeks; 3DSage's was toward the quieter end. Its catch-up shelf is distinctly its own, though: a computer assembled from components, then two different takes on homemade communication.
