Twenty-six minutes into his conversation on the All-In Summit stage, Billy Evans's phone rings. It is Elizabeth Holmes, calling from Bryan Federal Prison Camp. "I love you with my whole heart," he tells her, then hands the phone to his interviewer, who quickly says the call was not planned.

Evans had opened more casually: "Dude, I've never done an interview." The 41-minute session drew about 80,000 views in its first day, while this channel's longer videos usually open with a little over 12,000.

The first half is a love story with bad timing. Evans met Holmes at a Fleet Week party in San Francisco on October 7, 2017, without knowing who she was, and found that their offices were two doors apart. Six months of friendship and dog walks turned into dating. Three weeks later she was indicted. "I didn't even know what an indictment was," he says. Before the trial they spent eight months crossing the country in an off-road RV with their husky, Balto, and their son was born in July 2021, as the proceedings went on.

The stage rule was not to retry the case, but the case comes back. Evans notes that Holmes was acquitted of the patient fraud charges and convicted on the investor counts, and calls her silence "the single biggest mistake" she has made. That is his reason for taking part in a documentary directed by Nathan Fielder, the comedian behind Nathan for You and The Rehearsal, which he says will show Holmes unfiltered. He ends on his own company, Hemanthis, which uses Raman spectroscopy to gather biological data for AI diagnostics, and on why he says it is not a second Theranos.

The comments came in at about twice the usual first-day pace, while likes stayed well below the channel's norm. Much of the discussion questions Evans's account, and several viewers ask why a question about Holmes's voice never got a direct answer.

He is the second guest this week whose story runs through prison: Martin Shkreli sat down with the hosts a few days earlier, as we reported here.
