Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.

Beerus Makes His Wish!

A God of Destruction has more on his agenda than destruction: wishes, fresh lettuce and the possibility of dinosaur for dinner. ariki Anime's latest batch of Dragon Ball edits gives Beerus plenty of room for his less intimidating interests.

The clips channel's most-watched new upload, "Beerus Makes His Wish!", has reached roughly 2.8 million views and is also drawing the most daily views of any video on the channel. Its comments have two distinct conversations going: Whis's musical delivery of the summoning phrase, and what Beerus's wish reveals about his affection for his brother, Champa. The brothers are both Gods of Destruction, which makes a discussion about sibling tenderness a pleasing change of register.

Food supplies another thread. "Goku Bring Beerus His Own Lettuce" draws on Goku and Piccolo's fieldwork, while "Beerus Wants To Eat Dinosaur" gives Whis another feeding assignment. These are edits of the anime, not original episodes made by the channel.

There is plenty of familiar menace, too. "Vegeta Threatens Majin Buu..." sits just behind the wish clip in total views and daily momentum, with the lettuce upload next among the channel's busiest videos.

ariki Anime added about 10,000 subscribers over the week, and daily viewing is running well above its usual pace. Nearby in the anime and tabletop world, Legends of Avantris also had a substantial week, while Gigguk was quieter. Here, Beerus's wish is doing the most work, with farming and Vegeta's threats keeping it company.

I love the idea that no matter how often Beerus and Champa fight and argue with each other, Beerus cares deeply about his brother. He could've wished for anything to benefit himself, instead he made a selfless wish.

I still love that, for all his bluster, Beerus actually CARES about others. He may be a destroyer, and may not get along with his brother, but when it comes down to it, he always seems to act earnestly and honourably... and mostly selflessly.
