Where would Apple's HomeView fit? CNET brings tech back home

Bridget Carey considers shared screens and kitchen counters in a week that also brought Tesla demonstrations and an iPhone preorder scramble.

Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.

CNET has plenty of spectacular hardware to show, but Bridget Carey's HomeView questions are refreshingly domestic: where does this thing go, and how will a whole family use it?

In "My View on HomeView: I've Got Questions | One More Thing," Carey looks beyond Apple's presentation to multiple users, FaceTime calls, wall mounting and the competition for countertop space. Snoopy gets a moment, too. The commentary has drawn about 140,000 views, offering a practical counterpoint to the week's airborne-car spectacle.

That spectacle remains enormous. "Tesla's Flying Roadster Revealed: Everything That Happened in 10 Minutes" has passed nine million views and continues to bring in the most daily views of CNET's uploads. The event supercut combines ramp launches and aerial demonstrations with the team's explanations of suction fans and rocket thrusters. Viewers are supplying their own imaginary paperwork, joking about pilot licenses, airborne traffic violations and the mechanics who would have to service it.

Across ten uploads, CNET also followed the scramble to preorder Apple's first foldable phone and published Vanessa Hand Orellana's Apple Watch Ultra 4 battery test. CNET says the watch exceeded Apple's battery claims in its testing.

The channel added subscribers over the week, while daily views are running at nearly three times their usual level. Nearby in tech, CarterPCs had a particularly large week for views and subscriber growth; TechZone's viewing was close to its usual daily level. For CNET, the practical work continues alongside the spectacle: its iPhone Duo availability update is also among the uploads drawing the most daily views.
