Sparks off the gloves: Cole Trotta's downhill longboard slides keep rolling

Two new runs went up, each billed as performed by professionals and not to be attempted, while a pair of September slide videos keep pulling in the most daily views.

Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.

Cole Trotta's channel usually draws a little over 300,000 views a day. Right now it is running at around 400,000, and most of that lift comes from videos that are already a few weeks old.

The new material is two downhill shorts. "Imagine One Mistake Can Ruin My Day ☠️" went up on September 30 and is the busier of the pair. "The Speed Felt Uncontrollable ☠️😳" came four days earlier and has been quieter. Both carry the same warning in the description: performed by professionals, do not attempt. The second one adds that it was filmed on a closed road.

The comments under the newer short are mostly about the gear and the technique. Several viewers ask how his gloves survive being dragged across asphalt, and one wants to know how loose his trucks are set. Others point out the sparks, and the cameraman gets a few nods of his own. A few admit they watched the whole thing waiting for the mistake promised in the title.

The September videos are the ones keeping the channel moving. "These Longboard Slides Felt INSANE ☠️" and "The Wheels Don't Ruin The Road 😮‍💨☠️" are each close to a quarter of a million views, and both still bring in more views a day than this week's new upload. For a channel whose about line promises life outside the comfort zone, that seems fitting: the slides keep finding people well after they have finished.

Among the sports channels near his size, the All Blacks, Johnny Ringer and Lord's Cricket Ground are all well above their usual pace. TNT Sports and the World Surf League are having slower weeks.
