DEATH BATTLE! has spent its October preparing for this one. First came "The TRUTH about Goku in DEATH BATTLE," which asked whether the hero of Dragon Ball is secretly a gag character. A week later "Saitama is STRONGER than you think! ...Yes, really!" made the opposite case for One Punch Man's bald hero. Each passed a million views. The main event, "Goku VS Saitama (Dragon Ball VS One Punch Man) | DEATH BATTLE!", reached about 3.8 million in its first eleven hours.

The episode treats the matchup as a question of time rather than raw strength. Goku spends his life finding ways past his own limits. Saitama, as the hosts tell it, removed his limiter altogether and keeps growing exponentially during a fight, as he does against Garou. "This wasn't really a battle of strength, but of time," Wiz says, and the closing analysis works out how long that growth would take to close the gap. The hosts also take on the old objection that Saitama is a joke character who must always win, and argue that his story rewards genuine effort rather than cartoon logic.

The fight itself opens at a World Martial Arts Tournament arena and quickly heads for space. Saitama, unbothered as ever, wants to know whether cereal is a soup. Goku climbs through his Super Saiyan forms to Ultra Instinct before a Dragon Fist, a sequence credited to the animator Akairo-Senpay inside a fight directed by MORØ. Michael Kovach voices Goku and Ryan Abedi voices Saitama, with Ben B. Singer and Chad James back as Wiz and Boomstick.

The comments came in at more than a hundred times the pace of a usual first day. Many viewers write about the animation, others admit they avoided the comments until they had seen the ending. The channel also gained about 60,000 subscribers in a day.
