Things we can learn from the video

  1. 0:28The build combines a printed enclosure, USB-C display hub, ribbon cables, Peltier cooler and RedMagic phone.
  2. 3:07DroidDeck launches an Arch Linux ARM environment with Steam on the external display.
  3. 5:58Spider-Man: Miles Morales runs at low settings, with raw performance compared against FSR frame generation.
  4. 8:17Injustice 2 maintains near 60 FPS; Left 4 Dead 2 gets its own capped gameplay test afterward.
  5. 9:54Cyberpunk 2077 runs at a locked 30 FPS before a separate frame-generation test.
  6. 12:25ETA PRIME considers enclosure revisions and notes that a simple USB-C adapter can replace the custom case.

The little box looks like a console, but its engine is an Android phone. ETA PRIME's most-watched new upload takes the DroidDeck experiment beyond software setup, putting a RedMagic 11 Pro S inside a custom 3D-printed enclosure with a display adapter and thermoelectric cooler.

The important distinction is where the games run. This isn't a stream from a gaming PC elsewhere: the phone itself runs PC games through emulation, with DroidDeck providing an Arch Linux ARM environment and Steam interface. In "I Built a Tiny Android Powered Steam Machine… And It Actually Works!", Injustice 2 runs near 60 frames per second, while Cyberpunk 2077 gets a separate comparison between ordinary rendering and generated frames. Those extra frames aren't the same as the game rendering each one itself.

The build has reached roughly 327,000 views. Viewers are discussing the compact shape, suggesting cooling openings and larger heatsinks, and imagining what a dedicated compute module could make possible. ETA PRIME also supplies a practical caveat: you could skip the enclosure and simply connect the phone with a USB-C adapter.

Seven uploads made this a hardware-heavy week. The ROG Xbox Ally X20 first look brought an OLED display and redesigned controls to the handheld bench; a follow-up added a clip-on AMOLED screen for dual-screen emulation and PC-game instruments. Laptop tests ranged from the ASUS ProArt P16 to the MSI Raider A16 HX.

Across the channel, nearly three million views arrived over seven days, close to Switch and Click's weekly audience, while the subscriber total stayed unchanged. The current daily viewing pace is below ETA PRIME's usual level, but the earlier "SteamOS on Your Phone Is Finally Here!" remains the busiest individual upload. It has passed a million views, keeping the phone-as-PC experiment active beyond this week's miniature case.

  • I'd call this proof of concept a success and it will only get better.

  • that form factor is actually amazing though

  • You just need a decently large heatsink and then a fan on either side of the machine to push air through

  • Just make a compute module with these specs and watch the community do everything with it, even turn it into a video card.
  • Additional liquid cooling will be very interesting for this form factor
  • I just installed Droid Deck on my S24+ last week.

  • Print it out of translucent PETG so the lights can shine through, opaque tape to cover areas where you don't want the lights to shine. Resin printer could get you really clear prints.
