Choosing an economy-first opening sounds sensible until Marines land at your expansion base. Lewis Brindley discovers that almost immediately in Battle Report - Games Night's custom StarCraft match, when Duncan Jones decides his opponent's investment needs punishing.
Ben Edgar has designed the rules himself, aiming to bring resource gathering, base-building and large armies into a miniatures game. The upload, "We made a better StarCraft miniatures game! | Battle Report: Starcraft", has drawn roughly 37,000 views in half a day, already several times the channel's usual full-day audience.
The team says it enjoys the official tabletop game. This is a homebrew alternative, still a work in progress, with Ben explaining his objection to the scale of its models: "They're too big, and there's not enough toys on the battlefield."
His version makes the opening build order a hidden choice. Duncan goes balanced; Lewis chooses economy. Before long, their competing plans become attacks on the infrastructure that keeps each army running: a hatchery comes under fire, and flying Mutalisks tear through a line of workers. Later, a Nydus Network threatens to put Lewis's forces somewhere Duncan would very much rather they weren't.
George Hardess built the terrain and shares miniature credits with Ben. In the comments, viewers pick out the board and models, discuss the secret build phase, and request more StarCraft matches. One turns the game's familiar construction prompt into a joke about needing additional comments.
