Buick suspension and Plymouth wipers keep Halfass Kustoms fabricating
Austin's sedan gets a rear-suspension rethink, while the Plymouth 4x4 conversion gains electric wipers and a custom rear assembly.
Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.
Building a Custom 2 link Rear Suspension in Austin's 1955 Buick!
Getting a Buick low enough for Austin's plans means changing more than its ride height. Halfass Kustoms' most watched new upload tackles the rear suspension of his 1955 sedan, replacing the four-link arrangement with a custom two-link setup because the existing design won't suit the planned air bags and lowered stance.
That build drew about 48,000 views, the larger total of the channel's two uploads. Beneath it, viewers bring their own workshop experience: one describes adapting Chevrolet C10 trailing arms to an older Buick, while another compares the project with a two-door Buick Special build. The comments have the flavor of people comparing notes across garage doors.
The newer upload turns to a smaller but very particular fabrication job: "Installing a Custom Rear Wiper in a 1938 Plymouth Suburban!" Brent installs electric wipers and a battery box, then makes a custom rear wiper arm and assembly for the 4x4 conversion. It reached roughly 25,000 views in its first eight hours and is the channel's busiest video right now.
Subscribers held steady over the week. Among nearby motoring channels, Lucid Car Photography had a much larger viewing week, while DD Speed Shop also drew a substantial audience. Halfass Kustoms sat around the middle of that group for weekly views.
The Plymouth work has continuity, too: the preceding running-board build remains among the channel's strongest daily draws. From steps made from scratch to a bespoke wiper, this conversion keeps finding another part that needs making.

On my '56 Buick, I used C10 trailing arms and a C10 trailing arm crossmember with the factory panhard bar. The crossmember went right over the X frame rails. I drilled some holes and bolted it in. The only thing I welded was the axle mounts for the trailing arms. To go open driveshaft, I used a '61 Buick LeSabre 3rd member which uses the same '56 axles. A 2002 Chevy Tahoe driveshaft fits perfectly; didn't have to modify it all to marry up with a 4L60E. Enjoy your videos:)
