Love triangles and a royal banquet: Jack Edwards picks books for Pugh and Faist

Jack Edwards has run out of interview time with Florence Pugh and Mike Faist, but not out of things to give them. "Guys, I think I'm out of time, but I brought you books to give you," he says, and each actor gets a pick chosen for them.

For Faist, Edwards follows a thread through two of his projects, Challengers and East of Eden. "I was thinking, love triangles," he explains, before handing over Heart the Lover by Lily King. Pugh supplies the verdict on her co-star: "King of the love triangles."

Her own book takes a different route. Edwards points to her love of food and of complex characters, then reveals May We Feed the King by Rebecca Perry, a story of historical banquet re-creations and dynastic rulers. Pugh hugs it to her chest. "Bless you, that's so kind," she tells him.

The Short reached nearly 158,000 views in its first 19 hours, around seven times the channel's usual first day for Shorts. It turns around two earlier uploads this month in which each actor named their own favorite books; Pugh's passed half a million views. This time the channel that calls itself "youtube's resident librarian" does the choosing, as it did for Nicole Kidman and Sandra Bullock, as we reported here.

The comments arrived more than twice as fast as usual, and many are about the interviewer himself, with a running joke that he is collecting celebrities like Pokémon. Others treat the gifts as a reading list: one viewer is adding Pugh's book to theirs, another warns that Heart the Lover's second half calls for tissues.
