Creality's K3 toolchanger gets a first look from JJ Shankles

The comments under the short keep asking one question: why would a printer that swaps nozzles still need a purge tower?

Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.

Creality K3 First Look 🤯Creality K3 First Look 🤯

"Creality K3 First Look 🤯" is JJ Shankles getting early hands on Creality's newest machine, a printer that changes nozzles instead of running every color through one. It went up on Tuesday, passed 20,000 views in its first day and was past 30,000 three days in.

The comment section turned into a workshop debate. Several viewers want to know why a printer with separate nozzles still prints a waste tower, the thing nozzle-swapping is supposed to make unnecessary. Others wish Creality had fitted more than four nozzles, and one longtime owner, who has worked through an Ender 3, a K1 Max and a K2 Plus, is already waiting for a bigger K3.

The video carrying the most momentum on the channel is a Creality one too, just older: a 17-day-old short on the SparkX i8's filament-changing mechanism, now past a quarter of a million views and still moving several times faster than the K3. Further back, the 40k dice sorter from the summer has gone past three million views and keeps ticking along.

That Warhammer thread came back on Thursday with the week's other upload, a customizable toolbox printed with Modi Boxi and tagged for mini painters who need somewhere to put their brushes and models.

Views ran a little below the channel's usual pace, and about a thousand new subscribers arrived. Among the tech channels nearest its size, JJ Shankles sat third for views gained, while Tech.Explain had a very big week and TechDweeb and Joe Cirillo both ran well above their usual pace.

What viewers say

  • Can’t wait to see the k3 plus whenever that comes out. I’ve had an printebot make, ender 3 plus, k1max with both a coprint setup and the cfs conversion, and now a k2 plus with 2 cfs. I like the k2 size and can’t wait for a big k3.

  • Wait for when each changeable nozzle has 4 separate filament tubes offering 16 filament options. Can you put .2 & .4mm on different nozzles?

  • Looking forward to getting one when I can afford it
