Part 5 of the alligator rankings, and acting dogs past a million, for Rank Dawg
The reptile countdown started quietly on Monday and then took off on its fourth day, the same late route its Part 4 took a week earlier.
Why this story? The video is running at 632,619 views a day, 43 times its usual pace (14,721).
Ranking Best Alligator Core (Part 5) 🐊
Part 5 of "Ranking Best Alligator Core 🐊" went up on Monday and spent its first day with a little over 20,000 views. By its fourth day it stood near 670,000, and nearly all of that came in a single day.
That is the route Part 4 took, as we reported here: a quiet start, then a climb that arrived late. Twice now, the alligator series has done its best work after its first day.
Rank Dawg does not film any of it. The channel cuts footage from elsewhere into ranked countdowns, and its about text is specific about the work involved: hand-picked clips, edited pacing, captions keyframed by hand, sound design and color grading. That last detail is what the top comment is about. A viewer asks how the captions are made to move with the animals, and which software does the editing. The rest of the small comment section is mostly laughter, written in English, Turkish and Spanish.
The alligators had company on the shelf. "Ranking Best Dog Acting Core 🎭", posted on Tuesday, passed a million views. The newest upload, "Ranking Best Labrador Core (Part 2) 🦴", passed a third of a million within ten hours of going up on Thursday. Over the week, the channel's subscriber count grew by more than a tenth.
Around the reptiles, the channel's recent uploads are almost all dogs: doodles, dogs waking up, and even a ranking of dogs "Tokyo Drifting."
