The recruit so good at basic training that it annoyed everyone, on Reddit Report
The narrated Short has viewers comparing it to Baki, swapping their own boot camp memories and arguing about whether any drill sergeant would let perfection slide.
Why this story? The video opened at a pace of 924,406 views a day, 9.1 times a normal first day on this channel (101,801).
The recruit was so good at basic training, even our drill sergeant couldn't stand it.
Past a million already. Reddit Report's newest Short, "Which recruit was so good at basic that it annoyed everyone 0f7759c6", went up on Thursday and crossed that line before its second day was out. That is a long way beyond the channel's usual first day for a Short, and it lifted the whole channel to roughly twice its normal daily pace.
The format is the familiar one: a Reddit thread read aloud and cut down to under three minutes. This time it is about the kind of recruit drill sergeants are not supposed to get, the one who arrives already knowing how to do everything. Judging by the comments, the immaculate bunk is the center of it. Several viewers joke that no drill sergeant has ever looked at a perfectly made bed and declined to tear it apart anyway. A painted finale at the end and a line about being broken in exactly the right way are the moments people keep bringing back.
Not everyone is buying it. A large share of the comment section doubts the story ever happened. Others say it plays like an anime plot or an old sitcom, and veterans point out that in real basic, the flawless recruit still gets smoked along with everybody else. A few add their own versions: the high school sprinter who outran the instructors on the first day of PT and spent the rest of training leading the warmups.
Military stories have become a steady thread on the channel. The past few days brought a barracks with one television and a strict list of who controlled it, and a soldier who gave his new captain his own name when asked who the troublemaker was. Meanwhile, a Short from the week before, about an employee told not to work above his paygrade, crossed a million views of its own on the same day.

@DAC936See it on YouTubeI ran track and played football in highschool, left for basic 3 weeks after graduation so I was still in great physical shape, first day of PT we did sprints and I was dog walking everyone including all the DS’s….after that day I was in charge of running PT warmups😭. It got to the point where we had the top 5 fastest in my platoon and they would literally pull us out the barracks the middle of the night to race other units and place bets on who would win
