The Anime Glasses Effect 🤓

Pushing up your glasses can mean more than fixing their position. In anime, a flash across the lenses often signals that someone knows something you don't, or has a plan ready to unfold. Reighar's glasses-themed Short turns that familiar visual shorthand into a talking point.

The upload has passed a million views, with an estimated first-day audience more than fourteen times the channel's usual start for Shorts. But the replies offer something more specific than a big audience: a little reunion for people who remember old Tumblr image threads.

Several viewers bring up that format, while others extend the joke with imaginary side effects, from elaborate plans falling into place to acquiring laser eyes. One glasses wearer says the anime gesture became such a habit that they caught themselves doing it while typing their comment. Another gets into the design question: round lenses, they argue, make the glow especially striking.

Reighar's angel-themed Short is also drawing an unusually large early audience. Among uploads about Thor and Loki, Tony Stark and Goose, and whether poison expires, though, it is the glasses joke that has crossed the million-view mark.
