ShortCircuit's mini PC brings some full-size price questions
The ROG NUC 16 anchors five uploads spanning Framework's refreshed laptop, Googlebooks and RTX Spark.
Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.
A Premium Steam Machine Competitor - ROG NUC 16
Compact doesn't mean inexpensive. ShortCircuit's most-watched new upload, "A Premium Steam Machine Competitor - ROG NUC 16," has passed 400,000 views, with viewers questioning just how comparable those two gaming machines really are.
The unboxing goes beyond the case and ports into a teardown, cooling design and an orientation sensor, before checking gaming performance in Cyberpunk and Alan Wake 2. Underneath, the discussion keeps returning to price: commenters compare the mini PC with gaming laptops and home consoles, while others pick out its connectivity and compact engineering.
The week's other substantial draw is "They Fixed The Battery Life - Framework 12 (2026)." Its refreshed CPU and mainboard provide the premise, but the upload also makes room for installing RAM, storage and the keyboard, testing the stylus, and checking battery-life benchmarks. It's a distinctly hands-on counterpoint to the buying questions elsewhere on the slate.
Google's laptop supplies the bluntest of those questions in "WHO IS THIS FOR, THO?? - Googlebooks." That upload is currently attracting views fastest among ShortCircuit's videos, ahead of the ASUS-sponsored ProArt P16 and P14 showcase. David's separate RTX Spark unboxing rounds out the week.
Daily viewing across the channel is running roughly half above its usual pace, although the subscriber count was unchanged over the week. Nearby in the gadget world, Hayls World is also seeing elevated daily viewing, while Gamers Nexus is running below its usual level. For ShortCircuit, the liveliest conversation is less about whether a small gaming PC can perform than what makes it worth paying for.

@plushiie_See it on YouTubeTbh. Thats pretty pretty good engineering right there. Jeeez, im impressed
@stevenseagalsmomSee it on YouTubeI've always wanted to get some of the nuc computers. I've always found it very interesting what intel was doing. Having a mini pc have modular features plus could game. Thats pretty cool stuff. The new ones don't look modular though so thats a downside.
