Six burger batches test venison fat for The Bearded Butchers

Seth and Scott handle the Ohio whitetail breakdown before Hannah grills burgers made with five fat options and plain venison.

Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.

What's the BEST Fat to Add to Deer Meat? What's the BEST Fat to Add to Deer Meat?

The Bearded Butchers put a practical question on the grill: what should go into a deer burger besides deer? Their new upload, "What's the BEST Fat to Add to Deer Meat?", has drawn roughly 313,000 views and carries the strongest daily momentum among the channel's active videos.

The test starts well before lunch. Seth and Scott break down an Ohio whitetail buck, debone it and prepare separate batches with beef fat, Wagyu beef fat, bison fat, pork fat and bacon, plus straight venison. Trimming silver skin and keeping the meat cold are part of the preparation; Hannah then takes over at the grill for the burger tasting.

Viewers have brought their own recipes to the discussion. Brisket trimmings come up repeatedly, alongside pork butt, bacon and even ground lamb. One commenter recalls mixing deer, pork and beef in equal shares while hunting in Texas in the 1970s. It is less a single-answer comment section than a collection of household methods.

Seven uploads filled the week, including picanha, sirloin roast and beef-grading Shorts. The channel added about 4.7 million views and gained subscribers, although its daily viewing is currently below its usual level. Among nearby food channels, Sweet Impact also had a substantial viewing week, while The Bearded Butchers' weekly gain was similar to More Best Ever Food Review Show's.

Beyond the venison test, "Cut 'n' Cook: Beef Flank Steak🔪🥩😋" and "Beef Sirloin Roast #shorts #butcher #beardedbutchers" are supplying much of the current momentum, keeping the butcher counter busy alongside the burger grill.

What viewers say

  • Back in the 70's when I hunted Texas regions. I used the third, third, third method, deer, pork, beef.

  • I do a lot of catering of brisket and I always trim my briskets before I cook them and save the fat. We do 80/20 brisket fat and venison in both our burgers and our sausages and people think it’s beef. Great video crew!!!
  • My favorite is ground lamb with ground venison. Lots of good tasty lamb fat mixed with venison.

  • I rarely made deer burger because i liked the meat as is. Then one time i decided to mix some with bacon, grind it and make burgers. Did approx 33% bacon. Whole bacon, not just bacon fat. BEST BURGERS I'VE EVER HAD
  • We always mixed pork fat with venison for burger. Good flavor and moistness.
