A hat, a field, a hush: The Dead South's dusk teaser
The band's only new upload, "shhhhhhh," offers a brief silhouette rather than a full performance.
Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.
shhhhhhh
What does The Dead South's request for quiet actually contain? A wide-brimmed hat, an open field at twilight and a few acoustic notes. In "shhhhhhh," a suited figure turns sideways, exhales cigarette smoke and faces away again before the picture fades. No speech, no text, no explanation. It is a promotional teaser, not a new music video.
That was the band's only upload this week, and its audience has been small. The comments supply a little unofficial sound design: one viewer imagines a beer can opening immediately afterward, while another reaches for Elmer Fudd's rabbit-hunting whisper.
Elsewhere, the channel was considerably less hushed, adding roughly 2.7 million views over seven days while its subscriber count stayed unchanged. Zach Bryan had a much larger viewing week in the country-and-folk neighborhood; Lainey Wilson and Cody Johnson also added subscribers.
Among The Dead South's active uploads, "The Dead South Station" is drawing the most daily views. Its mix of official videos, live performances and audio tracks makes it a broader listening stop than a single-song release. "The Dead South - Broken Cowboy (Official Lyric Video)" follows, with "The Dead South - Massacre of El Kuroke (Official Lyric Video)" also continuing to draw viewers after its early-October arrival.
And the familiar calling card remains substantial: the 2016 video "The Dead South - In Hell I'll Be In Good Company [Official Music Video]" has reached roughly 484 million views, the band's most-watched regular upload.
