Robert Lucas makes the case for black frosting

Sweet Impact's frosting upload has passed nearly four million views as the cake artist's channel draws an unusually large daily audience.

Why this story? The whole channel is running at 2,834,943 views a day, 7.8 times a normal day (363,951).

Robert Lucas has been turning Gengar into cake and testing kitchen gadgets, but a straightforward defense of black frosting stands out among Sweet Impact's recent uploads. "Black frosting is not that bad," posted October 15, has reached about 3.9 million views.

That sits alongside a sharp channel-wide lift: Sweet Impact added roughly 2.8 million views in a day, nearly eight times its usual daily pace. The frosting video's total covers several days, so it doesn't tell us how much of that daily jump came from this particular upload.

Lucas's kitchen has room for more than elaborate character cakes. His gadget-testing video asks whether tools sold through TV commercials actually deliver, while his newest upload, "Loser eats a hot sauce cupcake," puts a less inviting bake on the menu.

Still, cake transformations remain central to Sweet Impact's catalog. Its most-watched regular upload is "Creating The Little Mermaid Cake: A Step-By-Step Tutorial," with Wicked and Bluey cakes also among its most-watched regular videos.
