Wire & Plug's $40 phone bundle has a catch

A swap-meet haul heads back to the repair kiosk, where working screens aren't the only thing standing between old phones and resale.

Why this story? The video opened at a pace of 721,597 views a day, 12 times a normal first day on this channel (57,760).

The bargain needs work. Wire & Plug buys three broken iPhones from a familiar e-waste vendor, then returns to the mall kiosk to find out which ones can actually go back on sale.

That small gamble anchors the sixth swap-meet installment, which has drawn more than ten times the channel's usual Shorts audience at this stage. The San Diego repair technician also picks up a turquoise Nintendo Switch Lite bundled with Animal Crossing, while passing on some basic tablets whose resale prospects don't justify the purchase.

The phones cost $40 together. Back at the "We Fix Phones" kiosk in Plaza Bonita mall, the XR won't turn on. The X and 8 Plus do, but both require further checks because they're passcode locked.

The iPhone X supplies the useful discovery: after a restore, it has no iCloud lock and is carrier unlocked. A replacement screen and battery later, the technician lists it for $129. That's an asking price, not a completed sale, and the repairs are part of the work behind it.

The 8 Plus has an iCloud lock and is set aside for parts. In the comments, viewers discuss the bundle's price and ask for more market trips, including a seventh installment. The appeal is in that inspection at the kiosk: a cheap phone isn't necessarily a phone ready for another owner.
