Zac Bell's penalty excuses don't survive the replay
His referee sketch cuts from indignant protests to the fouls themselves, drawing a much faster audience than his usual Shorts.
Why this story? The video opened at a pace of 41,707 views a day, 7.4 times a normal first day on this channel (5,672).
POV: Not my fault Ref 😂🏒
"He literally dropped his stick, ref!" protests the player in red. Zac Bell's sketch promptly supplies the missing detail: the opponent had it slashed out of his hands.
That gap between the explanation and the evidence drives "POV: Not my fault Ref 😂🏒", which drew roughly 42,000 views in its first day, more than seven times Bell's usual Shorts start. The referee routine we covered here has become an unusually fast starter for the Canadian hockey creator.
This is staged hockey comedy, with each innocent-sounding defense followed by an incriminating cutaway. An opponent supposedly unable to skate is being tripped into the boards. An accusation of diving comes with footage of a hook around the waist. The louder the defense, the less help the replay provides.
Bell's recent scout-at-practice sketch also turns hockey behavior into a joke, rather than making puck skills the whole attraction. Here, the comments extend the routine with recognizable teammate stories, including one viewer's memory of a player disputing a call while his stick was still caught in an opponent's visor.
