Merab Dvalishvili's office coffee break goes cosmic for Black Rifle

The UFC fighter stars alongside Mat in a computer-repair commercial, one of the company's two new uploads.

Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.

Black Rifle Coffee Company gives Merab Dvalishvili a desk job, a malfunctioning computer and a coffee break that sends him through the ceiling. Mountains, a fighter jet and a UFO follow. Technical support has taken a rather scenic route.

"This Is Why You Don't Trust the IT Guy" is a staged commercial for the coffee company, with Mat supplying the mug and an unconventional approach to fixing the monitor. It drew roughly 47,000 views, the larger audience of the week's two new releases, and is also the channel's busiest video at the moment. In the comments, systems administrators and engineers recognize the computer frustration, while other viewers pick out the alien sequence and the return of familiar faces.

The other upload takes a very different tone. "The Ship Nobody Wanted to Be On" follows a WWII Navy veteran's memories of carrying gasoline and bombs across the Pacific, watching the fighting off Iwo Jima and eventually returning to the island decades later. His reflections extend to the happiness of meeting people from a country he once fought.

An earlier conversation with Kyle Carpenter also remains active. In "He Thought He Was Dying Then Woke Up Five Weeks Later," Carpenter recounts his combat injuries and rebuilding his strength through small goals, eventually reaching marathon finish lines.

Across the channel, the week brought about 758,000 views and an unchanged subscriber total. Daily viewing is running below its usual level. Among nearby channels, The Tank Museum had a substantially larger weekly audience, while T.REX ARMS was quieter. Black Rifle's own viewing currently spans both sides of its programming: an elaborate coffee joke and veterans telling their stories.

What viewers say

  • As a guy that just retired from a major aerospace company and was a system admin for the last 10+ years there, I can relate to and vouch for the end of the video. There were days that I REALLY, REALLY wanted to do that.
  • As a systems engineer. I approve this message. Adding it to our P1 SOP handbook.
